I wanted to write about my experiences, thought after spending almost three months in Israel, of course including the Jewish people too.
It’s very sad to see all this antisemitism spreading in the world, also in Hungary. I never liked to have an opinion about things I don’t know especially if I don’t have too much information about it. Like for example Jewish people. You can not have an opinion about a nation, a religion, a big group of people based on that you know 2 of them, you heard something from your family, you read 2 articles. If anyone feels to share his opinion, feel free, but please avoid any antisemitism!
For me, Israel is still a beautiful country with amazing landscapes, interesting people, awesome food. Of course, the weather is great also since I got to Hungary, it’s raining, cloudy, also cold, therefore I miss the warm weather, the beach. I cannot believe how you survived this windy, cold, rainy weather during this summer in Hungary. You have all my respect!

Couple of things I learned from the Israeli people
- Be direct! No paltering, tell your opinion! If you got hurt, you’re grateful for something, you want something!
- Enjoy life! Don’t take too seriously your life, don’t worry too much! If you can rest, rest for real!
- Travel, see the world, get to know different cultures! Almost everyone I met, traveled somewhere in the world, I heard great stories, saw pictures, it was really inspiring. Ok, now you will tell me, it’s not for everyone and the ticket to Thailand is really expensive. Let’s dream, haha? I think, if you believe that you can do this kind of things, you can do it! Start to make efforts, and it will become real!
- Do sport! In Tel Aviv, most of the people are doing something no matter they have the time or not. I know somebody who’s going to the gym sometimes at 11 pm after work. So, what’s your excuse?
- Eat more vegetables! In Israel, most of the meal contains salad. They have many variations of it, sometimes with fruits also. Experiment with the tastes!
Some weird sentences I got
- – If I were not gay, I would marry you!
- – Can I get your phone number? – No. – Then your e-mail address?
- – Judit, You should go to Gaza for a couple of days!
- – Where are you from? You have a weird accent. – I’m Hungarian. – Oh, I thought Scottish.
That’s it for now. If you’re curious, book a ticket to Israel, and go! In a case of the low budget, try Couchsurfing, I had just good experiences with it!
Thank you, Israel! I definitely come back!
From next week, I’m writing my posts from the USA. So, a new exciting adventure is coming! Have fun too!

So, here we go, i have less than two weeks left in Israel, and then I fly back to the heart of Europe, to Hungary to spend a little time there. A bit that sadness takes part of my days already, even then I know that I’ll come back for sure.
I’m not sure if I can keep that calmness in my mind also in Hungary, that scares me a bit.
During the next weeks, i try to enjoy my stay as much as I can, having a lot of fun. Many beach time, a bit Jerusalem, coffee at the terrace, friends, Israeli market, long walk, yoga, cooking times.

This is the Hebrew name of the city. I spent two wonderful days there in the Jewish quarter of the old city. This place has an amazing vibe, actually, i can not describe with words. You need to feel it by yourself.
I visited one of my really good friends who finally came back from New York. He has an amazing flat where I felt just like at home.
We have been in the most religious area of the Jewish quarter outside of the wall, called Ge’ula. Usually, i have problems with my clothes, my knees and shoulders are always visible, as it’s 40°C outside, in these moments some scarfs can be useful. Rarely you can have confrontation by the extreme religious people.

Let’s talk about the ultra orthodox community a bit. I was really interested in this subject because i didn’t know too much about it.
My first impression was in Jerusalem. As it was super hot i was wearing short trouser and i got the name of “shiksa”, it means not Jewish woman, and it’s kind of an insult (bitch, you know). Religion, that’s it, you need to accept it!
Last time when i was there, i was a bit lost, so i asked some people to show me the way to the bus station. Usually they don’t speak English, or just a little, the children are covering their eyes…it’s quite difficult to make contact, especially with women if they give you the devil eye. Thanks God for having GPS at least.
The ultra orthodox Jewish are not going to the army, basically they are living from their religion. They give almost the 10% of Israel population and most of the people doesn’t recognize Israel as a real state of country.

Malawach my new favorite, it’s like the child of the Hungarian lángos and strudel. Usually, they serve with boiled eggs and raw tomato sauce. I use to buy the frozen version. You heat a frying pan and put one malawach on it. You cook one side and then the other, it takes some minutes and that’s it, you can enjoy the amazing taste.
I hacked the original version a bit, I ate with eggplant creme, cottage cheese, and vegetables. Today with jam! I guess my Israeli friends will kick my ass for this! Sorry, it was like heaven, for real! Anyway somebody will try with me!

I just realized yesterday that the first month just has gone. I still have 2 months to stay, and we will see…
I’m drinking my mint tea having a day off, and i’m wondering about what should i put in my malawach when it’s ready.
As you could see i mentioned zen city in the title…Am i crazy? Maybe you feel uncomfortable a bit, war, rockets, crazy nightlife, etc. How can this girl say anything like that about Tel Aviv? I need to share this feeling with you, because it surprises me also.
I like to be calm, i like to be amazed by the landscape, by the smell, by the noises of the environment around me. I like to be part of the universe, part of something good. I like to be loved.
